File

The File component lets users attach files, such as receipts, photos or supporting documents, to a submission. Uploaded files are stored on the GlobalForms server.

Add a file upload

  1. Drag a File component onto the form.

  2. Leave Storage set to Url and Upload Url set to /api/files. This stores files on the GlobalForms server and works after the form is exported and imported to another server.

  3. Optionally set File Pattern, File Minimum Size and File Maximum Size.

  4. To allow several files, select Multiple Values.

  5. Save the component.

File Pattern

Which file types are allowed (see below)

File Minimum Size, File Maximum Size

Size limits, for example 1KB and 10MB

Restrict file types

PDFs and images only

.pdf,.jpg,.jpeg,.png,.tif,.tiff

Anything except ZIP files

*,!.zip

The server also enforces its own list of allowed file types and size limits for every form. See File Upload Restrictions.

Files and GlobalCapture

When a submission is sent to GlobalCapture, uploaded files can be added to the document. GlobalCapture can merge these types as pages:

.pdf,.tif,.tiff,.jpg,.jpeg,.pcx,.png,.bmp,.gif,.doc,.docx,.rtf,.xls,.xlsx,.txt,.csv

Other file types are still saved with the submission. See GlobalCapture Workflow Action.
