Data Grid

A Data Grid is a table where users add as many rows as they need, such as the lines of an expense report or a list of dependents. Each column is a component you place inside the grid.

Add a data grid

  1. Drag a Data Grid onto the form and give it a label, for example Expenses.

  2. Drag components into the grid. Each one becomes a column, for example Date, Description and Amount.

  3. Save and test the form. Users add rows with Add Another and remove them with the delete button on each row.

Validation

The fewest and most rows allowed. With a minimum, the grid starts with that many rows.

For all other settings, see Common Component Settings. Turn off Show Label in DataGrid on the components inside the grid so each label appears only once, in the column header.

How data is saved

The grid's value is a list with one entry per row, for example data.expenses[0].amount for the first row's amount. See Working With Data Grids for totals, row numbers and other scripts.

Data Grid or Edit Grid?

A Data Grid shows every row open for editing, which suits short rows. An Edit Grid shows each row as a summary and opens one at a time, which suits rows with many fields.
