Important Notice: Transition Required for SharePoint Integrations Due to Microsoft ACS Deprecation

📣 Important Notice: Required Changes for SharePoint Integrations Due to Microsoft ACS Deprecation

Microsoft has announced the retirement of Azure Access Control Services (ACS), the legacy authentication method historically used by many SharePoint Online integrations. According to Microsoft, ACS will be fully retired for all existing tenants on April 2, 2026. After this date, any solution relying on ACS‑based authentication will no longer function.

To ensure uninterrupted SharePoint connectivity, all customers must transition to Microsoft’s modern authentication model using Microsoft Graph API.

🔧 What This Means for Your Square 9 SharePoint Integration

If your Square 9 solution currently connects to SharePoint using ACS‑based authentication, action is required. Once Microsoft disables ACS, your existing SharePoint workflows will stop working unless updated.

To maintain compatibility:

  • You must migrate your SharePoint integration to use Microsoft Graph API.

  • Square 9’s iPaaS platform will be required for all SharePoint operations going forward.

  • You will need to configure new Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) permissions as outlined in our support documentation.

🛠️ Why This Change Is Required

Microsoft is retiring ACS in favor of modern, secure authentication through Microsoft Entra ID. This shift affects all SharePoint Online customers and all third‑party applications. Microsoft states that ACS will be fully retired on April 2, 2026, at which point ACS‑based apps will no longer authenticate or access SharePoint Online.

đź“… Recommended Timeline

To avoid service disruption:

  • Begin planning your migration as soon as possible.

  • Complete your transition to Graph API well before April 2, 2026.

  • Contact Square 9 Support if you need assistance implementing the new authentication model.
