Important Notice: Deprecation of Square 9 File XChange
Square 9 is announcing the deprecation of File XChange, our legacy desktop file‑system integration tool. As we continue modernizing the GlobalSearch platform, we are shifting our development efforts toward more secure, scalable, and cloud‑ready technologies that better support today’s document automation needs.
File XChange will reach end of support on February 1, 2027. After this date, File XChange will be removed from future versions of the Square 9 deployment package.
Why File XChange Is Being Deprecated
File XChange was originally designed for older on‑premise workflows and Windows‑based file system integrations. As customer environments evolve toward browser‑based, cloud‑connected, and API‑driven solutions, File XChange no longer aligns with our long‑term platform strategy.
Modern alternatives now offer:
Improved security with modern authentication and permission models
Better performance and reliability across distributed environments
Full browser access without desktop installation or local dependencies
Enhanced workflow automation through GlobalSearch Go and iPaaS
Recommended Path Forward
Square 9 recommends transitioning to our modern browser‑based tools, which provide a more flexible and secure experience:
GlobalSearch Go for document access, indexing, and retrieval
GlobalCapture and iPaaS integrations for automated ingestion and workflow routing
Modern API‑driven connectors for system‑to‑system automation
These solutions deliver the same core capabilities as File XChange while offering a significantly improved user experience and long‑term support.
Timeline
End of support for File XChange: February 1, 2027
Recommended migration window: Now through early 2027
We encourage customers to begin planning their transition to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience. Customer who upgrade after February 2027 will lose access to File XChange.
