Expand / Collapse A Panel

On long forms, collapsible panels let users close sections they've finished and focus on the rest. Users select a panel's title bar to collapse or expand it.

Make a panel collapsible

  1. Open the panel's settings and select the Display tab.

  2. Make sure the panel has a Title. The title bar is what users select.

  3. Select Collapsible.

  4. To have the panel start closed, also select Collapsed.

  5. Save the component and test the form.

Things to know

  • Collapsing only hides a section from view. Its answers are kept and submitted.

  • Required fields inside a collapsed panel still have to be filled in. If one is empty, the form shows only Please correct all errors before submitting, and the panel stays closed, so users may not see what's wrong. Avoid starting a panel collapsed if it contains required fields, or say in its title that it must be completed.

  • To hide a section completely based on an answer, use a condition instead. See Show or Hide Components.
