GlobalForms can read data from SQL databases to fill in forms, and write submitted data to SQL databases. There are two separate features:
|
To… |
Use |
Databases |
Configured in |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Read data into a form, such as Select list options or a lookup by ID |
Resquel lookups: SQL queries you publish as GlobalForms web addresses |
SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL |
|
|
Write submission data to a table, or generate an ID when a form is submitted |
SQL Query form action |
SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL |
|
Both are set in config\local.json. Restart the GlobalForms service after any change.
GlobalCapture can also export data to SQL with its Data Export node. If submissions already go through a GlobalCapture workflow, that may be simpler than writing to SQL from GlobalForms.
Before you begin
-
A database account for GlobalForms with only the permissions it needs, such as read-only for lookups.
-
For SQL Server: TCP/IP connections turned on in SQL Server Configuration Manager, and SQL Server authentication allowed.
-
Firewall access from the GlobalForms server to the database port.
